Decided to shift the focus for a while. I have been lifting consistently but not paying much attention to body composition or cardio. Time to change that.
The plan
Signed up for 6:00am HIIT classes. The idea is to get the cardio work done early before the day gets away from me. Training in the morning means it is done and I do not have to think about it for the rest of the day. In theory.
The reality of 6:00am is a different thing entirely.
First session
Got there on time which I am counting as a win. The class itself was rough. A lot of interval work, bodyweight circuits, and the kind of conditioning stuff I have been avoiding because I knew I was not going to enjoy it.
I felt weak. That is the honest version of it. My strength base is fine but the moment anything became about sustained effort or moving fast I could feel the gap. Cardio has been neglected for a while and the body does not lie about these things.
Why this
The weight loss goal is straightforward. I want to shift some fat and improve how I feel day to day. Strength training alone was not going to do that at the rate I wanted. HIIT in the morning a few times a week on top of the lifting sessions should move things faster.
I am not expecting to feel good at these for a few weeks. The first couple are going to be about just getting there and getting through it. The adaptation comes after that.
Showed up. That is all this week needs to be.
