Viaduct Harbour and Making Ramen Together

Took the afternoon off from the lab and went for a walk around Viaduct Harbour with my girlfriend. We have been talking about doing this for a while and it was one of those days where the weather was too good to stay inside.

The walk

Viaduct is one of those spots that feels different depending on the time of day. In the afternoon with the sun on the water it is genuinely beautiful. We walked along the harbour edge, past the superyachts that always seem to be there, and down towards the waterfront. It is not a long walk by any stretch but it was nice to just slow down and not be staring at a screen for a bit.

We stopped a few times to just sit and watch the water. There is something about being near the harbour that makes it easy to switch off. The city noise is still there but it feels further away than it actually is.

The ramen

The highlight was the ramen place we found where you make it yourself at the table. You get the broth, the noodles, and all the toppings separately and you put it together how you want it. My girlfriend took it much more seriously than I did. She was very precise about the layering. Mine was more of a throw everything in and see what happens approach.

Both were good. Hers was probably better.

It was one of those afternoons where you do not do anything particularly impressive but you feel better for having done it. Getting outside, walking somewhere, eating something good with someone you like. That is enough.
